Eassa – Degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Essex

Where are you from?

I was born in Hillingdon, London and I have lived here all my life. My roots and extended family are in Somaliland, East Africa, which I visited a few months ago.

What’s your previous experience?

I recently graduated from the University of Essex with a degree in Electronic Engineering. I have done modules in mobile robotics, computer vision and
programming languages. As part of my final year project, I developed an artificially intelligent telepresence robot for elderly care. I launched and led a smart home technology social enterprise to alleviate loneliness among vulnerable populations. I interned at the Intellectual Property Office and
examined patent applications relating to image processing realised through computer vision and machine learning.

If you are not working, where would we normally find you?

Either at home watching sitcoms, dramas and documentaries on Netflix or outdoors camping, hiking, and travelling abroad.
